NOVENA AT CARMELITE
"Novena" comes from the Latin word for "nine". It is a cycle of prayers spanning nine days and consists of prescribed prayers and devotions and usually includes the reception of the Sacrament of Penance and Holy Eucharist. A novena may be made in common, in church or in private.

The Carmelite Sisters invite you to offer a Novena in honor of Our Blessed Lady of Mt. Carmel with them in their chapel at 7201 W. 32nd St., Little Rock at 7:30pm beginning Wednesday, July 8th. Holy Souls Parish's special night will be Wed, July 15th.

You can attend the entire Novena or any evening, especially July 15th.

CAN YOU SPARE AN HOUR?
On Wednesdays the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in our church or Eucharistic chapel for Adoration.

As time goes on fewer
and fewer people are
coming to Adoration.

Unfortunately many times there is only one person in the church. This is not good for a number of reasons and one is safety. The majority of those who come are 80 years old or older and while they are dependable they should not have to be in the church alone.
We need to recruit some younger people!

Call Grace Wrape 663- 1551 and let her know what hour you can give. The Lord will reward you more than you can imagine.

STEWARDSHIP - A Way of Life
By Laura Humphries, Stewardship Coordinator STEWARDSHIP - A Way of Life
During this time, we celebrate the independence of our county.
We would do well to echo the psalmist, saying, "Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for
His mercy."

May we always recognize and use wisely the gifts of freedom and abundance He has showered upon us. READ MORE...

TIRED
The day-in, day-out routine of caring for her is finally getting you down. And she isn't getting any better. You’re exhausted. You need someone to care for you.
A Stephen Minister can be this person. He or she won't push advice on you - instead, your Stephen Minister will listen and care for you, helping you sort through your feelings and discover the resources you need to make it through.

To find out more about Stephen Ministry or to receive a Stephen Minister's care, call the Church office.

THEOLOGY INSTITUTE
The Diocese of Little Rock Theology Institute will begin a new class in September. The objectives of the program are threefold: to enrich one's faith journey; to foster
an understanding and appreciation of one's faith; and to provide a theological foundation for individuals interested in parish ministry.

The program meets on the first weekend of every month, September to June at St. John Pastoral Center in Little Rock.
Friday evening 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm and
Saturday 8:15 am - 4:30 pm
.
College credit from St. Gregory University is an option. Call the Religious Education Office in Little Rock
501 664 0340 ext. 323 for more information.

Any young person who goes to church on a regular basis and is in at least the fifth grade may become an Altar Server. If interested, please call the parish office (663-8632) and once we have a group together we will begin training.

Being an Altar Server is an important ministry in the Church. If you think that you can fulfill this responsibility then give us a call.

HOLY SEWS MINISTRY
Holy Sews invites you to help sew, cut out or just support their ministry on Sunday, July 12th, in the Parish Hall from 1:30-4:30pm.

We will be making the beautiful layettes for stillborn babies who are too tiny and fragile for regular baby clothes. These layettes are lasting keepsakes for the families of an angel who came to earth for only a short time. Even if you don't sew, there are many other things you can do to help this ministry fulfill its commitment to its mission. You can even do your part at home in your leisure time.

2nd Collection Next Weekend
PETER'S PENCE
During his visit to the United States last year, Pope Benedict XVI called upon the United States to "be the first friend of all who suffer" by "casting the light of Christ upon the world." Your generosity will give emergency relief to those most in need around the globe, who suffer because of war, famine, disease, oppression, or natural disaster.

Support the works of the Holy Father by being generous in the 2nd collection next weekend
 (July 11 & 12) for Peter's Pence.
